The Crater Cruise Gravel is a scenic cycling adventure through the UNESCO-listed Vredefort Dome. The routes meander along the banks of the Vaal River, following rural roads that showcase the natural beauty of the region. All routes pass through the historic mining town of Venterskroon and tackle the Grootkloof Pass, offering riders a memorable mix of history, scenery, and adventure. Crossing the low-water bridges at Schoemansdrift, Skandinawiedrift, and Kromdraaidrift provides unique experiences that leave a lasting impression.

History: Established in 2004, the Crater Cruise is recognised as one of South Africa’s original gravel road races. It quickly earned a reputation as the battleground between "roadies" and "mounties", attracting both road cyclists and mountain bikers to test themselves on the demanding gravel routes of the Vredefort Dome.
